South African leader Anrich Nortje, whose availability for the Indian Premier League has been widely discussed this season, will join the Delhi Capitals team in early April.
A franchise official told Game Babu that Nortje will be in the team's third match in IPL 15, especially from April 7 when the capital will play against Lucknow Super Giants at DY Patil Stadium. Anrich Nortje has reached Mumbai and has been in quarantine for a few days.
One of the most successful fast bowlers for the Delhi team in recent times, the franchise has paid Rs. 6.5 crore and his choice were even more than Kagiso Rabada. However, Nortje's injury, the nature of which has not been made public by Cricket South Africa, will not be in action internationally until November 2021.
The leaders have not appeared in any of South Africa's local international series this winter. South Africa is currently playing a white ball series against Bangladesh, followed by a two-Test series. However, the CSA has allowed its IPL recruiters to opt for a richer league before the Test series against Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, there is some confusion over the choice of Lucknow Super Giants to replace Mark Wood, who was ruled out of the IPL due to injury. According to some reports, the England pacemaker has been replaced by Blessington Muzarbani (25).
The news came after the Indian High Commissioner in Harare posted a picture of the High Commissioner handing over Indian travel documents to the fast bowler. "Congratulations to their team on #LucknowSupergiants."
Lucknow officials, who claimed to have a confidentiality agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, declined to comment on the matter, but sources told the website that only Zimbabwean players would be included in the squad as they are bowlers. An official of the team also said that they have canceled the transfer and it will be announced soon.
