Dhoni, the most expensive player in the inaugural IPL auction in February 2008, has captained CSK in every IPL season in which the franchise has participated. Under his leadership, CSK has recorded a record 121 wins in 204 IPL games.
As Dhoni's captain, CSK also won the IPL trophy four times: 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021. In addition, CSK finished second five times: 2008, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2019.
Meanwhile, Jadeja, who has been with CSK since 2012, has become the third cricketer to lead CSK. Suresh Raina was in a position to lead the team against Yorkshire in the Champions League in South Africa in October 2012.
Jadeja last captained the cricket team on October 28, 2007, when he captained Saurashtra U19 against Mumbai U19 in the Vinu Mankad tournament at the Western Railway ground in Rajkot.
