IPL 2022 Reports : More than 25 percent crowd likely to be allowed in stadiums

IPL 2022 will be held across Maharashtra from March 26 to May 29 at four venues.

The 2022 IPL is set to begin on March 26 when last season's champions Chennai Super Kings will select Kolkata Knight Riders at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. The two-month tournament will be held across India at four venues in Mumbai and Pune - two cities in Maharashtra respectively.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the venue may see more than 25% of the spectator crowd at the 15th edition of the Marquee Tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also confirmed that the opening matches will have more spectators than visitors as the tournament progresses.

BCCI officials say there will be more fans in the stadiums than in the opening games.

"It is our understanding. In the future, there will be more fans in the stadiums than in the first games. As the number of cove cases decreases day by day, we expect more people to be in the stands," a BCCI official told about this.

After two seasons, the money-laden event will finally no longer be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, there was speculation in January that the tournament might be held in South Africa, and this was discussed between the BCCI and Cricket South Africa (CSA) before the official timetable rested all negotiations. IPL 2022 came out earlier this month.

The IPL will have 70 games and with the introduction of two new franchises - Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants - the number of teams has increased to 10. Defending champions CSK will be aiming to win a record-breaking fifth IPL title this time around.

With all the teams participating in the two-day mega auction in Bengaluru last month, it will be interesting to see which team's season will be the most memorable.
